Long tenticle anemone help.

I just saved this purple long tenticle from petco for $20. When I got it in my 24 gallon cube (in there for now so I can watch it better before going int DT) it opened right up but about half way thru the day it shrivels up and realeases from the substrate. Is this because it is not acclimated to the lights and is getting too much or is it just sick? Thanks in advance.

Photo of the tank it's in and where it attached this morning.

I haven't been moving it, at about 5 pm it will shrivel up every day and float around the bottom for a bit, right before then the mouth will start gaping and then in the morning it always looks perfectly fine.

Oh okay, m'bad. >.< Anyways it is probably just yeah, finding its 'spot'. Have you had your water parameters checked?

All water parameters are in check, it's running a skimmer rated for a 50 gallon, a foam canister filter and weekly 5 gallon water changes. I set it up as a hospital tank for some corals and threw some macro algae and cuc in there and it ended up running way better than my big tank.

If it's genuinely a Macrodactyla Doreensis, then what worked for my Doreensis is to choose a spot at the middle bottom of the tank. Brush sand away from where it meets the rockwork so that the glass bottom is exposed. Gently put the anemone down into that spot. Brush the sand back up against its foot, as deep as you can without submerging the anemone. That way it's got light, but also has protection against too much current, and can withdraw down into the sand and rockwork.

Thanks, I tried to dig the hole in the sand and it worked for a day but then it detached. It has better color now and stays fully open all day long now so that's a good sign. Not sure how long it was at petco with dirty water and bad lights.

how often are you feeding it? I feed mine about half a medium shrimp a day and it's doing great, bought it a week ago and it's only moved about 3 " from where I originally put it! I cut the shrimp up into small pieces smaller than it's mouth. I'm gonna try feeding it a silverside today

I've tried silversides cut up into tiny pieces and it will stick to its tentacles for a few minutes and then release it, I'll try shrimp.

Haven't tried to feed it for a 2 days and don't have any shrimp like i thought. Just Got it to eat a small piece of silverside. It actually wrapped around it instead of just holding on to it like before.

Patience, I stressed over mine and tried everything. Finally after a couple weeks found a happy spot and has been thriving since. Just leave it to find a spot, and protect it from any powerheads.

i hvae 12 nems in my 90 they get feed from what ever food im feeding the tank that lands on them .no need to feed there light will do fine.

The plan for it is to put it into a 330 gallon reef for 1 of my clowns, I'm curing a big piece of brs shelf rock that's going to require a bunch of moving rock around to get it to fit where I want it. After that the anemone is going in there and will hopefully will give relief to the hammer coral it's hosting right now. It's slowly killing it but keeps trying to feed it anything it can. It used to host a bigger purple long tentacle that disappeared when I was out of town for a week.

rust remember if its not happy it will move the prob im having with mine right now

Doing an update on this anemone. It has now been in the 330 gallon for 2 months under LEDs and it lost its red base color and now has green tentacles under actinics, i was pretty certain raft it was a purple long tentacle anemone.
