Pretty fish. Not so pretty cords in the background. Shame on you :)

I know, I know. I wasn't a member of this forum before I started cycling. Had I been I would have painted the back of the tank. I usually just find an image I like and blow it up and edit it in Adobe Photoshop. So far I haven't found anything I like yet. I should have a better idea what I want to do with it once my light get here. Once I see the tank under the lights I will fit a few different backs and see what looks best.

Thanks for the compliments. I was actually very drawn to how "electric" the orange seemed on him. Now I just need to make sure I come up with a good feeding plan to keep him looking that way.

Oddly enough I liked the Tomato Clowns and the Black Percs, however the old lady was partial to the Carkiis. When I started doing some more research and looking at different fish tank pictures I kind of took a liking to the cinnamon. I was going to different store looking and most of the ones I saw were either 1/2 grown or just didn't have good color.

As I was walking through my LFS today to get some base rock I saw this guy nesstled up inside a Sebae. To make a long story short, 2 hours later he was being released into my aquarium. I'm very happy with my choice and I have a lot of people on this forum to thank for it. I was originally very unsure as to what I was going to keep in my tank, but after reading some of the threads in this forum about pairing and egg laying and all that sort of thing, I really began to take a liking to these guys.

Question:
Is now a good time to try to find another Juvy Cinammon, or should I wait a while and let this one develop some in the tank? What are my advantages and disadvantages both ways?

Thanks,

Rob

I've also been really attracted to the Tomato complex clowns recently. I'm having a hard time deciding what species I'd like to have in my tank when I set it up. Percula, Tomato, or Cinnamon? It's a big decision...hehe

As for pairing: It's up to you...I'm not very familiar with the pairing practices of the cinnamon's specifically, but this guy looks pretty small, so I can't think of any reason you wouldn't be able to get another small juvi.

Just splitting hairs here, but Black Percula doesn't exist...it's often a common name for the black variant of A. Polymnus(and sometimes the black var. of A. Ocellaris), which, obviously, aren't the same species as A. Percula.

i would fine a large older tomato to pair it with cinamon pairs are like maroons and they need a big size difference otherwise you will have two that think they should be female

I feel your pain, but I think this is a losing battle. :(

if the store you are referring to is petco then they are amphiprion ocellaris just a black variant that ORA breeds, you will see it on the scientific name on the tag...
Kinda funny it says tr black percula (amphiprion ocellaris)
tr on the tag meaning tank raised not true

I know I have seen clowns called Black Percs on websites like this:

http://www.petsolutions.com/True+Black+Percula+Pair-I-115780L-I-C-16218-C-.aspx

I also am pretty sure the ones we currently have in the store are labeled as Black Percs as well. I have tomorrow off, but if we have the scientific name on it at work I will bring it in.

Bad news :( . I was walking through previously mentioned LFS today and they had another fish that looked exactly like mine but about 3-4 months older. Ironically enough it didn't have a label so I asked and they said it was a Fiji Tomato. Now I am very suspicious as to the actual kind of clown I have. is it possible to make a distinguishing ID at this age? Also, I can provide more pictures if necessary. Thanks Everybody.

hey i got the PM but to tell the truth i have zero knowledge of the differences in these types
what i do know s if it is also from the "tomato complex' it will pair with it use the maroon pairing
method to help keep them safe here is a link to the maroon pairing methods

how to pair maroons and other clownfish

I've always thought that Tomato and Cinnamon clowns looked pretty similar anyways....so I'm not sure. They're both "Tomato Complex" clowns, but afaik the personalities are just a little different.

It's probably really tough to tell the difference between the juveniles.
