looking for a golden puffer

Hey all, I did an online search looking for a golden puffer, but not too much luck. Found one for 500 dollars, but I'm pretty sure I can find one a little less expensive than that. Does anyone know of a reliable source for one? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Yes, it was from Hawaii. Have you noticed any color difference ie...brighter yellow between the two?

I'd like to know the difference between Hawaiian and Fiji golden puffers too. Any pictures of the difference? I would love to own one but cost is a factor right now.

$500 is a decent price for a Hawaiian Golden. The cheapest I have found $350 and that was only because I know the shop owner. He usually sells them for $500-600.

Here, this is a local shop of mine that has two of them in at around 10 inches in length. They are one of the best shops and they have a 14 day guarantee on all there live stock.

They are some good looking puffers. The one in the pics especially. Looks much smaller than 10 inches though. I have been scouring my local stores for a while looking for one and nobody has them. They are expensive though!

Trust me it is a real 10 inch golden puffer. It eats right out of your hand. They have had it is the store for quite a while now and it is amazing in person.if i could afford it right now, i would by it myself. And you can't beet a 14 day guarantee.

0_o omg those are freaking jap and hawaiian dragon eels! man im so flipping envious lol. And nice africanus i havent seen one for a while....well actually i never seen one at all xD and the puffers look pretty sick too. NICE TANK!

from my understanding the Hawaiian golden puffers are very bright yellow, which fits the bill on the one I purchased for 250.

salty. it all depends. i have seen some pretty pale whitish yellow ones out of christmas islands (golden puffers are are not from the HI islands)

Costa rica and fiji also supply a great deal of golden puffers to the trade. I would have to say that the x-mas island gold puffers are the most expensive due to freight and collection techniques (hand/net caught)

Anyone know where I can find a bright yellow one max 4 inches? Cant find one anywhere around me and most online are "notify when we have one"

Thanks,

Jeff

I don't think you will find a 4" one. Most are 7-10.

Why is that? Whenever I find a guinea fowl it is fairly large as well but I see pics of small ones in peoples tanks. Do you think adding a large one to a tank with small triggers and tangs etc. would be an issue or are they fairly peaceful?

i have a 5-6" x-mas island golden puffer for sale. i have never seen a 4" golden puffer. I do not believe the color morph occurs until they are larger. puffers are fairly peaceful but are aggressive eaters and will take food from other species mouths.
