Looking for a new camera, any suggestions?

I am in the market for a new camera. I want one that I can change lenses on.
Do any of you have any suggestions? Also, if you are suggesting the camera that you own, can you give me some example pics? Maybe macro pics?
Thanks for any help.

I use a Nikon D100. kinda old but still a workhorse. All the reef shots of my stuff have been with it and you can check out www.showfocus.net for more shots from it, click on images on the left. None of those shots are reef shots but all concert shoots, many under low light with no flash which is a hard thing for most digital cameras to handle well. Im sure there are many choices that are newer it will depend a lot on what your price range is. Ive always liked Nikon just cause their lenses are black and it used to blend in better in crowds and stuff at concerts. When I was shooting for music magazines they always wanted real life not staged shots so it was easier to be covert with black. Canon makes some great stuff to, its really all about personal taste. (Although I will say most of the guys I know that did a lot fo macro work all shot Nikon, better range of lenses and adaptors for them)
My one word of advice is to get something that will allow you to adjust exposure and white balance after the shot. Nikon lets you use RAW image format and im pretty sure all Dslr's do the same now/ It is helpful to save the almost good shots that always seem to happen. Also remeber to invest in good glass, a 1000 dollar camera with a 100 dollar lense still takes low quality pics.

We have a sony A100 that you can change lenses on and hubby tells me its a "prosumer" camera. www.flickr.com/photos/christie and www.flickr.com/photos/klo there are pics on there it should say which camera took what since i have a little cannon point and shoot type of thing i use when i don't feel like breaking out the big guns

If you're coming to orlando saturday and we can meet you to get some of those polyps (let me know where and when please) we could maybe bring ours to show you if you'd want to know more.. it'd give kevin something to do anyway:)

I've always been biased toward Canon. Make very good cameras and nice lenses. They also have some of the best price for their cameras.

My opinion is hit a camera shop and play with them there. Then go buy it online.

Go to the photography section of RC and you can learn as much as you want and see some great pics. I have a Digital Rebel (Canon) and I really like it.

Yea that is the brand I have. You might be able to get a used digital rebel 350d for a good price to get your hands wet and then move up to a 30d or 10d

good point about buying online, check craigslist.com as well Ive seen some good deals lately. If your gonna buy new online be weary of deals to good to be true. A lot of online vendors sell grey market imports that will not be eligible for US warranties. B&H photo has them clearly marked as to which camera's are US models and they have some good prices most of the time. If your ever in the area and want to play with the Nikon I have your more than welcome. Ive only got one low end macro lense but you can geta feel for controls and the such. Another thing to remember is that you will need a good tripod. Spend the money and get one that has adjustments you think will be usable for getting to all sides of your tank. a solid tripod can make or break most macro pics.

I love mine, but not exactly what you're looking for. Olympus c-60. No removable lenses, but it has some nice features, like macro and supermacro mode. 6.1MP, zoomable(except in supermacro and movie modes), awesome camera...they even make an underwater housing for it(pretty expensive) so you can take underwater photos and in tank photos if you really want to get in close and SM mode isn't doing it for you:)

Here are my pictures taken with Olympus c-60:

i have a sony dsch1 for sale.

How old is it? What kind of condition is it in?
And how much?

Ask Liam what camera he has...it takes fantastic pics! His color balance is easy to adjust and his macro shots are just amazing!
