I have a butterfly and angel dominated tank:
180 gallon with ~50 gallon sump and refugium total after live rock ~ 200 gal of water.
8' X 2' high X 18" front to back. I originally planned on putting a naso tang in there, but have not yet. No coral to speak of (one soft coral).
Current fish:
BUTTERFLIES: Chaetodon miliaris (lemon)
C. semilarvatus
C. auriga
C. falcula
ANGELS: Centropyge bicolor
C. ferugata (rusty)
Pomacanthus navarchus (blue girdled/majestic)
FILEFISH: Paraluteres prionurus (mimic toby puffer filefish)
DARTFISH/ Nemateleotris decora (purple firefish)
FIREFISH
The fire fish hides out usually. I see him once per week or so.
As you can tell, just about every fish is predominantly yellow, maybe with a bt of blue, but mostly yellow. I was originally trying a Hawaii biotype but that seems to be going by the wayside at this point.
Anyway I was interested in something along the lines of Thalassoma lunare, the Lyretail wrass, but I understand it is quite aggressive. I am really not a hippo tang fan, so I have ruled that out.
My auriga is somewhat aggressive and killed a couple of fish: my other purple firefish, my tassle filefish, but left others alone. There is very little aggression among the butterfly fish, and the angels also seem to leave each other alone. I am concerned about upsetting the balance that I have. My live rock has lots of caves and hiding spots.
Any suggestions? Do I even have room for a naso in that tank if that's what I were to consider?
Thanks!
Bruce
