Looking for Anthias and Lionfish

I'm looking for some Anthias, and it seems that none of the LFS here want to carry or order them. If any of you happen to go by the stores in Knoxville, could you check and see what that have for me? I'm also looking for a Dwarf Zebra Lionfish or an Antennata (Spotfin) Lionfish. Thanks in advance!

Last I checked, lyretail and despar were available locally. You can always call ahead, numbers are available through yellow.com.

Yeah they had lyretail at the Aquarium when I went about a week or so ago...

I'd recommend at least a pair of anthias. I tried a single and it wouldnt eat. I got 3 of them at once and they all ate well until one of them decided to stop eating after about a month of doing well. Frustrating as heck to see a fish swim right past food when you can see its stomach sucked in and it was eating just a week ago.

I have kept three different types over the years...

Lyretail was the easiest (ended up being a bit aggressive so traded it back to the LFS after about 8 months)
Bartlet was tricky to get to eat at first but was then fine(he jumped out of the tank)
Sunburst well he never did eat :(

I went by the Aquarium this afternoon after getting my salt from Art's. they have about a dozen pink lyretail anthias. I think they were priced @ $24.95 each. They appeared to be healthy.

Good Luck!

Malcolm;)

I bought 4 lyretails (as my 1st fish with advise from LFS ;) )The tank was still not even finished cyceling yet but they though it would be fine.... Anyways, I ended up with 2 males and 2 females. I didn't know the differance or importance of this as I had no clue about anything except trusting blindly my LFS! it was constant war with one male /female pair on one side of a 80 gallon and the other pair on the other. The constantly tried to steal the others gal and had war. One female eventually jumped out so it was major war with 2 guys and one gal. Hindsight says reaserch before you buy and save some major pains later!!
