Looking for Berghia Nudibranches

Has anyone used these in the great battle vs pest anemones? I'm considering ordering some online from berghia.net if I cannot find them locally. Any interest in a group order?

If you are talking about pest anemones aptasia I highly recommend getting a file fish I had a bad breakout of aptasia a few months ago probably over 200 of them and put the file fish in the tank in no more then 3 weeks I can't find a single aptasia anywhere.

I added 10 Berghia nudis to my reef this morning. If they work well I should have some to share in a few months. I will keep you guys posted on my results with them just in case anyone is interested.

Can you give us more details?
Did they die? or didn't eat any aptasia?

Sorry about that here's a more detail description for anyone following along. On Oct 19th I received 10 nudibranches by overnight mail. They seemed healthy and active. After drip acclimating them I placed them in 2 spots each with a group of 5 on the rock in my reef. I watched them crawl around for 5 minutes then had to go to work. Over the next 2 weeks or so I watched my aptasia very closely and while they certainly did not all disappear I did see aptasia go missing at night so it is fair to assume that they were being eaten. While they are eating some they don't appear to be making much of a dent in the overall population. It seemed as though the aptasia populate was constant, not increasing or decreasing overall. Now 2 weeks later my aptasia count is steadily rising similar to what I had before adding the nudi's. I went around recently with AptasiaRx killing the bigger ones.

After introducing these creatures to my reef I never actually saw them again but based on my observations they survived at least 2-3 and are possibly still alive. It is my understanding that providing the conditions needed to create a healthy population of them is difficult in a reef. (the young only feed on the tiniest aptasia) I feel like I am overrun with aptasia but maybe I didn't have enough to sustain them or maybe somebody ate them. (bristleworms and Amphipods are some of probably tons of creatures that will eat them and their young)

I hope that some of these Nudibranches are still alive in my tank somewhere and still hold out a bit of hope that they make a comeback. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Berghia Sighting!

Berghia Sighting!

I actually saw a Berghia last night for this first time since the day I introduced them! Took a little video of it with my Droid Incredible.

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OJLNErwf95g?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OJLNErwf95g?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

A minute or so after the video the little guy actually seemed to give up and not eat the aptasia ... I'm thinking it was too large for him. The smaller one you can see off to the left in the video was gone this morning.

That's great news. I'm planning on taking the plunge on these by the eom. Thanks for the update! Did you. Purchase yours from the site mentioned above?
