Your best bet is to go to the LFS and look at how the standard AGA ones are built... take a camera, pen and paper and a tape measure if needed. Then after you figure it out you can make me one too
Here's the canopy I just built. I used 3/4 inch plywood for the whole thing. I made it so the ends are the exact width of the tank, and attached trim to come down the sides and front. I cut the top across the front and attached the piece I cut off to the front lid piece. That way the whole front opens up and it props itself up when open.
