ORCA President 2007~2008
Hi Everyone

2008 has been a banner year so far. We've had two successful Frag events and two awesome speaker presentations with yet another special speaker presentation tomorrow with Bruce Carlson joining us at the Orlando Science Center.

We are now planning for the remainder of 2008 and in need of members to volunteer their homes for upcoming meetings. The following months are open and I am also noting which months are frag event months.

June
July FRAG EVENT
August
September
October FRAG EVENT
November NO MEETING
December HOLIDAY PARTY (We need a large home for this party)

For anyone interested in hosting an ORCA Meeting, there is a $150 reimbursement for food and drinks (non-alcoholic).

There will be a sign up sheet posted at the front door on the ORCA information board. See any of the Board Members if you need more details.

Hosting a meeting is a great way to showcase your Reef Aquarium. You'll get lots of great feed back about your setup and also show other members alternative ways to setup a reef aquarium.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Hey all, Let me throw this out to everyone.

We live in Ormond By the Sea, We have a small 2/2 800 sq ft home/bungalow halfway between A1A (beach) and John Anderson Dr. (river)

a few streets up and on the beach is Tom Renick park, county owned ,picnic tables, grills etc.

Maybe interested in doing a meeting with my house being a "base" and doing a picnic/beach day.

I havent even begun to think of any details but just had a thought it may be something different.

Marineland is maybe and hour away north and the Marine Science Center is about an hour south.

Any thoughts?

Along those lines, but in the opposite direction...

We have moved to south of Haines City (off 27), and have 5 acres out in the country... and Mr. Smith is itching to have a good reason for a bonfire. (Once rainy season gets here, of course! )

We'd also be honored to host a meeting - house is 2000 sq ft, and people would be welcome to bring tents and camp as long as you don't mind the dogs - there is plenty of room.

At our Kansas City club, we often did pot-luck dinners, and I'd be happy to roast a couple of briskets.

This last Saturday we had a few folks sign up for upcoming meetings. The rest of the year is covered except for October. So... anyone looking to host the October meeting, please let us know.

And FWIW, regarding the above posts for meetings/picnics/beach outtings; please know that this club is always looking for great ideas for having activities that the club members can enjoy.

Parties or get-togethers during the month aside from meetings are a great idea. If anyone has an idea for an ORCA themed event, i.e. a beach day picnic etc, please put your idea down on paper/email and present it to any ORCA Board member.
