It has been two years and I still can not get a hold of one! If anyone knows where I can get one please tell me.
Looking for spearer

My LFS has a supplier that can get them regularly. I am waiting on my glowing mantis to arrive, they said they had some. I asked whether it would be a spearer (like I expected), or a smasher and once I explained what I meant they said that they got both kinds and would give me a call with what they had when they got them. I thought a spearer would be cool at first, because not so many people have them but then I thought about the habits of the two kinds and think that a smasher would be a lot more fun to watch.
Oh well, just let me know and I will see what I can do here at my LFS for getting you one..

I've been looking for one for the past few months and have found that it's terribly difficult for our wholesalers to get them, mostly due to the lack of interest in mantis shrimp out there the correct identification of them is not so hot. Other hurdles are they would have to be specifically sought after for collection. Most mantis' youll find are up for sale because they are smashers that were collected along with live rock. All I can say is good luck to all of us looking for a spearer.
Hobart007 wish you luck man, only say that because I have heard that line before "we can get both kinds" usually after I explain the differences as well, and luckily for me their next shipment included a "spear/smashing pistol mantis". Keep us updated if your lfs can actually get these guys.
