I need to address some flow issues in my tank, and figured I'd check to see if anyone is looking to sell any of these before I purchase them new.

Thanks,

T.J.

Ask Jeff (serpentman) about Vortec pumps before investing hundreds in one. :)

I have several Tunze nanos and like them. I also added a Sure-Flow kit to a Maxi-Jet 1200 and I am happy with the flow it gives for $15. They claim 2100gph and I believe it. In my 92g corner tank it sucks a vortex from the surface and the pump is 10" below the surface! There are other kits on the market too. The Algae Free one (Sure-Flow) has the magnet for the impeller included and it also has a 1600gph propeller as well as a 2100gph propeller. The Maxi-mod puts out at least 2 to 3 times what the Tunze 6025 does even after modding the Tunze pump.

I have 2 vortechs for sale $275 each including shipping. One needs to be sent to vortech prior to sending it out, the driver went on it.

They can send it to you when they are done if you are interested.

Unforutnately, I had nothing but problems with my Vortechs. The flow they generated was great. However, all in all, between 2 pumps, I ended up sending them back 8 times in 18mos (6 of which the pumps were in storage). They were early production runs and from what I gather, they have ironed out some of their quality issues. However, since I invested ~$800, I wasn't happy to spend over $150 in return shipping costs plus $150 in non-warranty parts. I finally paid to have them refurbished and sold them to buy Tunzes.

Problems I experienced:

Premature wearing of magnet (now fixed with gen2) x 2
driver failure
Power supply failure
Dry side driver bearing failure
wet frame stress crack
excessive vibration x 3
