Looking to set up new Nano tank....

Having looked at some old pics of the 3 gallon tank i started off with back in college, I'm considering adding a really small nano tank to my bedroom dresser. Im thinking no larger than 2 gallons. Does anyone have suggestions for doing this? I'd be using some sand and LR from my current setup, And keeping only inverts like a hermit, snail, a few zoo polyps, a piece of macro algae, mabe a sexy shrimp or something along those lines. Does anyone know where i could get a tank this size or smaller? I think i have 90% of what i'd need in my other tanks already.
Best regards,
Ryan

I figured that since my apt is like a meat freezer i'd need a small heater, and i found a great nano heater from drs foster/smith. I'm also considering making this into a species tank for a pair of dwarf seahorses (H. zosterae) What do yall think?

I would just buy one of those tiny glass aquariums they have at the pet stores. I saw a great light at Lowe's that you could use very easily on a tiny nano like that. I also saw them at BJ's I believe. It's a tiny desk light that you could direct over a nano easily. It looked like it was a full spectrum compact fluorescent bulb. They also make some great little filter systems for them...obviously I've been thinking about one myself for a while. Let us know what you come up with!

I've also had good experience with my little eclipse, but it's a six and you can't change much in the way of lighting/filtration, etc. That's why I'd go with a basic little tank and do my own thing.]

Good luck!

try the nano forum. AGU has a great nano and many others work with 2.5g tanks as well.

just be carefull some of the posters there are a bit snobish and it seems there attitudes are inversly proportionate to the quality of thier advice. but the guys there that know thier stuff give great advice and are always willing to share thier experiances.

that size tank will be way too small for even 1 dwarf. id stick with just inverts etc like you said.

I dont think you would have a problem with a few of them in a 2-3g. they are what got me in to saltwater! I bought a 2.5g tank with 3 of them in it on ebay for 30$! they lived several months and even had babies! I wish I knew then about saltwater what I know now! I was actually considering setting the tank back up agian. If you want to do an order, let me know, we can spilt the cost of shipping!

i take that back, ive read theyre probably easier to take care of in a smaller tank, just keep the water quality high. when you feed, the food is more concentrated because of the tank size, leaving less chance to foul it up overfeeding. .

but good luck, im actually setting up a seahorse tank for my little sister with a 12g nanocube.

shes so excited.

i may throw a bunch of dwarfs in there now.
