Losing hermit crabs

in the past two weeks i have lost about 6 hermit crabs. everything check out with my water . everything is where is shoudl be . nothing has changed . what could be causing this . could it be my tank is only set up for a little over 2 months and there is not enough food for them. i do have fish and feed them twice a day and make sure there is left over for the little guys. thanks for the advice..

I had one hiding for my first year. It cleaned out all my hermits and some of the smaller snails. I never saw it only heard it, then it disappeared.

They can and will kill each other off. What kind do you have?

i have the dwarf blue claw , and the scarlet red ones. lol.. so your telling me there is a hermit gang war inside my reef tank..

yes.the blue legged(crips) are in a struggle over drug turf vs. the red legged(bloods).hopefully they dont end up in the overflow(jail)

I started out with 7 red/scarlett hermits. Within 3 mos I was down to 4. They would fight over the shells. Since then the last 4 have left each other alone.

It's hard to explain. Two rocks hitting under water?
It wasn't until I purchased a mantis, and heard it, that I realized I most likely had one in my reef.
