Losing some zoas and palys/zoas...????

I have some zoas and palys in one of my systems that are having issues. They are closing up and deteriorating, almost looks like cyano on them as they "melt", don't know if that's the cause or a side-effect. It seems kind of random, one will get it and others near will be fine, then another inches away will get it. Everything else is good in the tank. Levels are straight, other corals open and happy, fish are fine.

Here's a couple pics of a couple palys with it

Like I said all the levels are good. I'm running carbon and chemipure. Any advice?

Most likely bacterial infection!

What to do?

Prepare to do a partial water change.
Turn pumps off!
Remove the rotten/dying/dead zoas off the rocks by scraping them using a small sharp knife, while syphoning the dead ones out.
Use gloves, goggles and close your mouth, and be careful where you're going to put them. Toilet would be best.
Flush and clean toilet which chlorine!!
Apply couple drops of Lugol's solution right where they were with a dropper, directly on the rocks' surfaces in the tank.
Leave for like 2-3 minutes and turn pumps back on.
Make sure you've got a good skimmer running.
Minimize the Lugol's added to the system!!
You won't need to repeat the Lugol's!

This is to help, not to cure the system. I mean, the bacteria is still there!!!
That type of infection will stop only if the system is running stable, nice and clean.

You are probably feeding the system too much, and/or you don't have a good maintenance schedule. Would be good to do 10% partial water changes every week or so from now on.
No need for more tan 10%/week water changes!
Good luck!

Grandis.

I actually did a couple water changes while removing dead/dying polyps and film a couple weeks ago. Still seeing issues. I haven't used an iodine though...never have actually.

Oh and yeah I'm well aware of palytoxin... Years ago I had it mildly and couldn't taste anything for like three days, but I've heard horror stories much worse than that!
