Hey guys,

I recieved my baby bimac last tuesday and this thing is awsome! For the first 2 days it wondered around cuuriously. Its in a 65gal all glass reef ready, with about 60lbs of live rock to hide in. (Now this is where you frown.) I noticed the damsels that where in the tank would tease the bimac...just fanning there tails on him every once in awhile. (I know now i shouldnt of put them in).. ? Anyways...On the third day the octo has gone missing. Usually I could find him hiding somewhere on the rocks..but now he's no where to be found. I my self dought he escaped..i did all i could to prevent this. I have also begun taking the damsels out using a fish trap. In your opinion do you think i shoudl just leave the tank be? do you think it will just freak him out more if i move the rocks around looking for him. GA! but this guy is so small..he could be in any of the many pores and cracks of the rocks.

How long should i give it , until I conseder him KIA..or MIA?? With the fact that there are several hermit crabs and plenty of snails in the tank.

The baby bimac I got several months ago was about the size of the ones comming from ffexpress. He too became missing in action afer two days and didnt show up for a few more. It turns out he was hiding in a pore in one of the rocks. They will do this when they are small sometimes as they would in nature to keep from being a meal. After a few days he came out.
I would get the damsels out asap. It will stress such a small octopus and can peck at his eyes.
He will show up sooner or later looking for food.
I have had sand dwelling species of octopus that did the same thing, only the would hide under the sand for severel days.

Found him!

Found him!

Thanks for the quick response. I found him hiding deep in the caverns i made. None the less i just have 3 more damsels to get out. Which i will probably do today. Aswell as take out the bunches of snails and hermits..so he will interact with me for food more often.

thanks alot!
