My LFS gave me a very generous surprise today.

Since I bought me ENTIRE tank (piece by piece) from my LFS, I guess they felt they should give me a nice gift.
My dealer was showing a bunch of coral that he received when he purchased the entire contents of someone's tank. Included was this Maxima Clam ( I think). The clam is every bit of 5"-6".

He asked me if I wanted it, and of course I was very happy to accept it.

I placed it on the bottom of my tank, with a flat piece of rock buried in the sand beneath it.

My tank is a 90 gallon AGA 24" inch deep, with a 2" sandbed.

I have 2 x 250 XM 20K bulbs, with 2 x 110w URI Actinics.

Please confirm identity.

Please advise on proper care.

Thanks

Gold tear drop maxima IMO. You can place the top half of a 2L bottle over it and target feed with DT's for about 30 min or so. That's what I do with mine. I've also heard of people using the very small Golden Pearls. I don't remember what size though since the LFS's around here don't carry it or even know what it is. Do a search on here for it or the abreviation (GP) and you might get lucky.

Second the "Gold Tear Drop Maxima" Very nice looking. I have one just like that but it is a copper color.

that clam is awesome!!! i would definalty thank the fish store
its worth at least 100 and a year or so ago you would be lucky to snag that for 300

do a search for teardrop maxima

Nice looking clam. If it is 6 inches you should not need any supplementary feeding, just make sure it gets plenty of light. It may change position / direction on you. If it does don't move it back. It will orient itself where it wants to be for maximum photosynthesis and comfort relative to flow , etc.
