Lowest Temperature For Tank?

In an attempt to cut on maintenance cost for my 3 aquariums, I am considering changing a few things. I have a fish QT setup, and was wondering how far back I can cut the temperature in the tank, without the fish becoming uncomfortable or stressed. My apartment stays around 70-72 F 24 hours a day. I would imagine the tank would stay around 73 or 74 without the heater. Would this be OK?

There are some people on here who run their tank at 55, however they have the specialized live stock for that temp. Depending on what you have, that will make the difference.

though at that temp they are employing a chiller...currently all my heaters in all tanks are unplugged...the house temp on ave is around 75...I rarely plug them in....

Guess that might help. I'm talking about fish that are normally kept at 77-78 F. For instance, Tangs, Blennies, Gobies, etc. Not fish that are typically found in deep or cold waters.

I keep my tank without heater in my home. Winter time my temp. stays around 73-74 and I see no problem with my corals or fish. I have SPS,LPS and just a common variety of fish. No ill effect at all. Summer time temp. go up few degrees to about 77.
