i cant seem to find any info on the danger of giving a frogspawn a fresh water dip before introducing it into your tank. any input would be appreciated.
A FW dip is a good idea to remove nasties and unwanteds like flatworms for example.
It is really not that big a deal, I have done it often.
The key will be to match both the pH and the temp. of the FW to the reef tank. I like to use a 5 gallon bucket and fill it about 1/4 way with FW and add a heater, once the temp. is up I will add a teeny, tiny bit of Kent Buffer and try and match the bucket pH to the tank as close as possible.
After I am confident that I have matched those 2 parameters, I then place the coral into the bucket and gently swish it around a little bit for a couple of minutes. I think you want to limit the dip to no longer than about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the coral and place it in the tank
