Lugols Iodine?

Looks like lots of people (me included) have questions about this so I thought I would start its own thread. I think Lugols is a stain used to stain tissues in pathology, but it's hard, if not impossible, to find at a local pharmacy. That said, can tincture of iodine or povidone iodine be used to dip zoa's in? Both are much more readily available.

Honestly i am not sure if either of those would work. i personally have used and still sometimes use lugols as a dip. i personally would rather use a proven product and pay the couple extra dollars to ensure nothing would happen to my zoas. there for i will stay with lugols as my iodine source for dipping zoas.

on the other hand if those out there would like to find an alternate source wich is cheaper then lugols that works just as well i would love to hear about your experiences with the experiments. i am sure there are other things out there that would work just as well and would be alot cheaper as well as more readily available.

Thanks for the comments. I also found more info on the stickies at the top of the forum. Sorry I didn't see those first.
