I had 3 Lumenarc mini"s with 400W MH's on a 60"x 30"x30" and they were more than enough. They could have even been spread further apart though the crossing light overlap was never a downside. However SPS did not do as well on the sand and needed to be kept halfway up or nearer the top to thrive. Here's some pics. LPS and softies had no problem on the sand. I did have a 3"-4" DSB as well.
I am going with four Lumenbright Mini's over my 96x30x30 tank and can let you know in a month or so I chose minis so I could add VHOs to each side of the reflectors for actinic supplementation.
Yea...I want to grow SPS on the lower half of the tank and was hoping an upgrade from 250 to 400's would do the trick. Still can't decide if I want 3 or 4. I like the idea of the minis to supplement with VHO's.
I have two regular Lumenarcs over a 280 (30" tall) with 400w XM 20K bulbs and I don't have a problem with corals down low.
The tank looks strange because it is mounted with the end being the front and half way into the room so it look like a 30x30x36 tank but the other 36" are behind the wall.
Beautiful tanks guys. I think will get 3 regular lumenarc's for the setup. That should be plenty from what I am seeing and reading. Would you guys agree?

I only used two because my intent was to create a look like the tank was endless so I purposely left the back dimmer. If I had the tank mounted conventionally I would have used three. I don't know how you plan to lay it out but conventional wisdom would suggest four for a tank that length. However, it's not like you can't add a fourth later on if you feel the need.
This is true. It says the regular lumenarc will cover a 3X3 space. Should be plenty for a 96x30x30, however, I do agree with you that traditional wisdom would suggest four. Any other thoughts?

I have some on 48x24 tanks with one per tank and they do a good job on them. They are obviously not as bright at the edges but that's fine for the purposes of those set-ups. Just depends on how you plan to lay out the tank. Like I said I'd start with less and buy more if I felt the need.
