Lumenbrights

I have a 92x35x28 starphire tank heading my way and trying to plan things out.

I am upgrading from 250w to 400w halides for the new tank and curious which set of lumenbrights to pick up.

On this long and wide of tank, can I get by with 3 Large Lumenbrights or will I need to go with 4 mini's? Planning on running 20k's with supplementals.

I like the more island type aquascaping so I would like to use 3 large if possible.

my 300 uses 4 250s one per 4sq ft. if you want to get coverage over 35 inch width and about that far across you would need to put the lumen brights pretty high over the tank. i love my lumenbrights but i think you might be better served with a reflector that allows more spread. sanjays tank is similar in size to yours and if i am remembering it correctly i think its lit with 3 400 watt fixtures but they werent lumenbrights. you may find his build of interest and he is the master of metal halide lighting.

i have my lumenbrights over my 200 marineland series about 17 inches off the water.they just dont look that bright.they are 250 watt fixtures.it also might be that i have 4 vho bulbs powered by an icecap 660 that may make it overwellming.tank looks great just not sure why the halides arent that bright.might be something to consider with these reflectors and such a wide tank like mine

I have 3 large pendents over my 8' long tank and it looks great. I have 400 watt radiums. Before that tank I had 1 large over a 30" x 30" cube and it covered it no problem.
