Lunare Wrasse (reef safe?)

Do most consider a Lunare Wrasse reef safe (except with shrimp)?

Will they damage other inverts and corals?

Worth tring or just get rid of him?

I had a red coris that went from a cute little juvie and a model citizen to a snail/shrimp/hermit eating machine. When he started looking at my little true perc male like a snack I decided enough is enough. These fish really belong in an aggressive fish only setup IMO.

Without thinking I put a cleaner shrimp in with mine. Within about 5 minutes I had a $25 pile of cleaner shrimp parts settling in various corners of the tank. He's fascinating to watch, especially when feeding the tank, and he's not really aggressive...unless you're a shrimp or crab.

some say reef safe although a reef contains inverts and lunare wrasse is not invert safe so NO a lunar wrasse is not a reef safe fish --unless you dont want your clean up crew anymore.

yes i've seen them highly aggresive toward snails and crabs and shrimp

your choice,, my advise is self explainatory

I have one in with eels, trigger, puffer, and that kind of crowd. Mine will eat anything including my fingers. Would never even consider putting him in a reef tank.

i have mine in a reef..they are "reef safe" but not invert safe...they will eat all your shrimp, snails, crabs, etc....i wish mine would catch this huge damn crab i cant remove!

I have mine in my 150 gallon softie tank with a Magnificant rabbitfish, purple tang, blonde Naso, Saddle back clown and a clarki clawn.....no inverts. He will make SHORT work of any clam, shrimp, or crab.

Hmm, even tridacnid clams? I thought maybe they would be big enough he wouldn't recognize it as a clam. I may have to give mine away then, because I wanted to put a clam or two in my new tank.
