I've been trying to reduce my nitrates from around 30-40 in preparation for some zoa's.
I have a clump of ulva in the extra section of my skimmer. It has been there for a few weeks, but I haven't seen any change in nitrate level.
How long do macroalgaes take before you start seeing results?
I'm also thinking of trying some carbon dosing. I understand that the two would basically conflict for the same nutrients. I've read some people saying that the macro would be a little more steady, but the carbon faster acting. Could I keep both methods, just on a scaled back system?
I also have some halimeda growing in the DT for looks, would that be affected by the carbon dosing?
