I like how macros look so have tried to keep a few in the main tank. This picture shows how it is going at 9 months with this tank. On the far left is an unidentified red alga that I purchased from Drs. Foster and Smith at about half this size. It is attached to rock and is not eaten by the fishes. In the middle is the codium alga that I picked up in florida from the beach. It has never attached to rock and I have to strap it to a rock to keep it from floating. I harvest this one regularly, it grows quite well. On the far right is halimeda. When I bought this, the "leaves" had the normal disc shape. Within a month, most of those had died out and the new habit is more stem-like--looks like a cluster of twigs. Seemingly this change in habit might be telling me something about my water, but I have no idea what. Does anyone know?
