mag 24 help

Well, finally got ready to start my sump up again and now my mag 24 isn't working. It is making a slight humming noise but that is it, anyone know if it is fixable?

I would pull it out and take it apart to see if there is any calcium build up. If so soak it in vinegar or diluted muratic acid.

I can remove the screws and part of impeller but not sure that i can remove anythign else, anyone have experience with taking this pump apart that can help out.

When you say part of the impeller I am not sure what you mean? The whole impeller should come out.

That is about all that comes apart from my memory of having one. Does the impeller or any of the hole that the impellor goes in have any white/tan calcium build up? Does the grey/black part of the impelller look scraped up like it was grinding around instead of smoothly spinning when it operated? These were all the things that happened to mine before it died. I cleaned my up with a dilute muratic acid solution (vineger work also) but the impeller was screwed. I ended up buying a new impeller and it worked again. Usually these mag driven pumps in my experience only fail with the impeller. Maxijets for instance I just purchased a whole bunch of impellers for all the ones I have taken out of service because I could not get them to work any more. With the new impeller it is like brand new.

If it is anything like the mag 7 I have, just pull it out and tap it on the side with your hand. I replaced the intake housing that had broke, picked up a new impeller and Magnet and the thing still needs a kick in the bu to start sometimes. Also, sometimes just unplugging and pblugging back up helps.
