I know the Eheim draws more power, but I thought I read it may give out less heat than a Mag? Maybe it was the Mag 9? I wouldn't understand if it were less heat than the Mag 7, but I hope I'm wrong?
The 1262 has a ton more flow than a Mag7. Its more comparable to a Mag9.5 or Mag12. Even the 1260 which draws a little less power than a Mag7 outflows it by a good margin.

But, if the 1262 has a ton more flow AND doesn't transfer as much heat as the Mag 7, I'm sold.
i think someone here did a test with teh mags and they actually underrate the power they consume. I think he used a kill a watt tester on a mag 9.5 and says the power consumption was around 145 or so rather than the 93 it claims.
The eheims are underrated in terms of their flow. That and I have heard that the 60hz cycles in the US vs 50 in europe make them put out more flow than rated in the US.
You should notice a difference with the eheim 1260 over the mag 7. I had to down size to the 1260 on my return from the 1262. The 1262 pushed way too much water for my lifereef HOB overflow. The 1260 is perfect for it.
I know there has been a lot of discussion in the Aqua-C thread about Eheim pumps. What are they recommending there? The Eheims hold up to head pressure a lot better than a mag which would make them a better pump for spray injection skimmers. I would think you would see a nice improvement.
