mag drive or sedra?

I need a quiet, reliable, pump thats energy efficient for my in sump return. I'm debating between the mag-drive 12 or the sedra 12000....what you guys think i should go with? any other suggestions? thanks.

I have used both brands. Mag12 for return and Sedra 9000 for skimmer, both are internal in my sump. I do not recommend the Mag for external use.

Quiet One is my vote. Very cool rotor. Mag are not very energy efficient.
Use a kill-a-watt meter and you will see for yourself.
NO more Mags for me.

I have used both pumps of various sizes.

Im now using the OceanRunner3500 WOW!!!!!!! Its as strong if not stronger than the mag 9.5 @65w, can be used both sub or inline.

Get a Rio instead so you can get the surprise of electric shock if you stick your hand in the tank.....

Mags are great pumps but does create a lot of heat and use a lot of wattage.

My vote is for Rio HF or Quiet One. For submersible applications only, then are very quiet, very efficient, and very well priced.

I like my Mag 5, was a bit noisy for a couple of weeks initially, but is pretty quiet now.
