I have a Iwaki 40RLXT mag drive pump that is failing returning very little water to tank after only about mine months. is this normal and what should I do? could it only need cleaning and is it hard to do? I am hoping this will help of i can manage to get it back togather after taking it apart. How often should it be cleaned.
any advise would be very appreciated. planning to open it up tomorrow.

It shouldn't need cleaning that soon.

Is there a chance something got stuck in it, or in the line that feeds it?

You will need to disasemble it to inspect and clean. it is not difficult to do just be particularly careful when you pul out the impeller just to do it stright out of the bearings which are ceramic.
The manual may help you during disassembly and assembly.
