What exactly am I needing to buy, I don't want to grab the wrong thing.

prestone heat ? is there any certain kind...??

mag flake...I don't even know how to find this stuff ??

I've also heard of epsom salt...is this ok too ??

The CaCl is labeled as Prestone Driveway Heat. It will look like little white pellets. Similar to the airsoft pellets if you have any kids.

The mag flakes is the harder one to find. If you read it will say Dead Sea Works somewhere in the fine print. Being you are in Kansas City you may be in luck. Look for ice melt and read the packages. Dead Sea Works supplies Scottwood industries with their MgCl. And they are from your area. I put an email in to Dead Sea Works asking them for the name of a company that they supply to in the midwest and a representative of Scottwood called me. If you find the MgCl package ones without all the other mixed in too it will be the MgCl from Dead Sea Works. They have a big selling ice melt labeled Roadrunner but this is a mixed salt with KCl and CaCl as well as some MgCl so keep looking if that's the only one from them you see. You may even be able to find their contact info and pick it up from them but I'm not sure if they allow non commercial walk in or not.
