Mag18 return lines--1" or 3/4"?

Hi all, I have a Newb question here. I'm hooking up a 180 in-wall that I've recently built into my basement. I have a Mag18 for a return pump and I hooked it up with 3/4" return lines since the output of the Mag18 is 3/4". When I use the reef central pump size calculator, it says I'll get much more flow with 1" return lines instead of 3/4"...is this the case or not? I was assuming since the output of the pump was 3/4" that's what I had to use. Any advice would be appreciated!!

I would recommend going with 1 ½” which is what Danner recommends. You will get a lot more flow as the ¾” pipe will choke down the flow. It’s hard to find but the 1 ½” pipe size statement is right below the flow chart in the link below:

Thanks for the info! So, since the output is 3/4" do I just put on a couple fittings to increase the size to 1-1/2"?

Thanks again!!

Thanks, I bought a used pump from someone here on RC so I didn't get a instruction manual. You guys/gals here at RC are a great resource!!

Yes. You can get it at HD or Lowes. It will look similar to the one in the upper right corner of this shot:
