Magnifica heaven! video

Beautiful! I especially enjoyed the display of clownfish bravado. I wonder if the diver got bitten.

Neet, looks very different from the magnifica habitats we saw in Fiji. All of our diving was off the northern tip pf the main island.

The magnificas were mostly singles or small groups of 2 or 3 clones mostly in deeper water. We only saw a couple up on the top of the reef. some were in strong current from one direction

It seems that they can be in a wide range of habitats in the wild. It makes you wonder if there is lots of genetic diversity in the babies, so some are able to thrive in high light or flow and some do better in deep water. Then we get them to our tanks and don't know the conditions they were suited to in the ocean.

feel free to browse the photos from that trip. The anemone photos are in the albums marked with a date and the word "anemones" http://picasaweb.google.com/FlightyMail

Here is one that was on the vertical wall of the reef. It couldn't get that much sunlight in that position, and it was in very strong one direction, almost laminar flow. I couldn't swim fast enough to stay in one place. Not at all the conditions I would expect for a magnifica.
