Majestic Angel Diet - Is this ok?

Well my juv majestic angel is doing great, he's even coming out a lot more now. Anyway, I have been feeding him all kinds of stuff to get him a mixed diet. Problem is he seems almost totally uninterested in the seaweed I've been feeding him. I've been feeding green, red, & the Julian Springs mixed. He pics at it some but really has no interest. He does however love the brine shrimp I put in the tank.

Can he live on the brine alone? He pics at my live rock constantly, so I guess he's getting algae or something there.

As long as he is feeding that is good news. The brine alone are not a very good diet, and should be at the very least supplemented with vitamins. Since he is eating he is taking in calories and as such you should have plenty of time to get him weaned onto other foods.

Have you tried mysis shrimp? I have found that usually when a fish will eat brine, it does not take much coaxing to get them eating mysis.

Good luck!

These fish love their food and all of the angels I have kept, the majestic included will eventually eat nearly everything with gusto. Brine is like popcorn for marine fish, they love it but it doesn't have much nutrition and like Michael said mysis is a much better food and most angels love that as well. My current majestic loves nori now but only the green kind and it took a while before he was feeding well on this, leave it on a clip or banded to a rock and the angel should try it sooner or later. Most of my angels also really like the New Life spectrum pellet food and I feed the 1mm and 3mm size pellet of the garlic anti parasite formula, my majestic fed immediately on these pellets. I also feed formula 1 & 2 and angel formula from ON, mysis, spirulina fortified brine, krill, and a homemade seafood mash (fish, shrimp, clams, scallops, any fresh seafood in the food processor). Food quality and variety is one of the keys to keeping angels IMO.
