Make my clowns get along!!

I had two false perculas and they got along great untill the murdering power head killed one. I went out and bought another, and the old one keeps picking on the new one. Are there any tricks I could try to get them to get along?

Hmmm, this is a common problem. You could try the old tricks of moving some of the aquascape around, you could also remove the "old" one for a few hours to see if the "new" one can get a little more comfortable.

Is the new one smaller than the other one? Or was it alone in the LFS tank for a long time? Could be that both are female.

The new one is smaller. No it wasnt alone it was in a tank with about 6 others. The biggest one is 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Can they change back to males? Will they get along in time? How long should I wait to see of they get along? If they dont get along should I return the smaller one and try a different one?

Also the older one was only alone in the rank for 1 day. I didnt want him or her to get used to it. I have only had the older one for about 3 weeks then the ph got ahold of its friend. I have cover the intake with a sponge, so that is not a prob anymore.

what do you mean by get along they will fight to the death if they dont get along otherwise they pair up what is their behavior like??

Well the old will see the new one and chase it to either end of tank. The old one I dont think has hurt or bit the new one. When he gets the new one to the corner the old one will either leave it alone or hover over it.

If it's not hurting the smaller one it's most likely just establishing dominance. The small one should "shimmy" to the larger one. I'm sure someone else can explain more clearly what I'm talking about.

I am going thru the same thing. The clown I have is 2" at best and the new one is slightly over 1".
They seemed to get along at first but within the hour it became evident the larger was not going to stand for the new tankmate and I knew I had to remove one of them.
I removed the larger to a seperate tank for now. I'll leave him there for 2-3 days while the small one gets used to the new surroundings( he has already taken to the BTA), Then we'll have one more try.
If this doesnt work I guess someone will have to find a new home.

Good luck, I hope it works out for all of us. Clowns included.

I hope so to I only moved the brain the old one was hosting and havnt tried anything else. I hope they will get along, the old one hasnt actualy tried to harm the other.(yet)

If the aggression is not severe yet it should be a good sign, your clowns have been together for about a day and half(?), I f you havent seen any serious fighting I would think they will be OK.

My two on the other hand not so good. Seemed fine for a bit then the larger one started on the new addition (very aggressively) and wasnt showing any sign of letting up so I put him in timeout.
I'll try to keep up on this thread and post back when I put him back in the tank.

Well today the old one let up alot and isnt chasing the new one. The new one is starting to swim closer now. I think the old one was just showing it was the dominent one. I hope.
