Making a Venturi

Could a PVC tee be used to create a venturi air valve? Checked savko and the price for a venturi connection is crazy. So i figured i could just make one. Would the end where the air hose is connected have to be extra small? Any suggestions or anyone who has made one out of PVC or other materials.

Yah you can make one. Take a 1/2" PVC T and stick it in some boiling water. You need to create an area of low pressure to suck in the air. After its boiled and softened up a bit, use something like pliers or even better a hose clamp right in the middle of the T. Clamp it down to create the smaller opening. Then hook an airline up to it, connect to your pump and viola! DIY venturi.

The DIY version will only run you a couple buck max, and thats if you screw a few up.

So basically all i need to do is make the opening on the tee smaller. Cause when you look at the venturi connection on a maxi-jet thats pretty low tech. What if i get a tee that is threaded then thread a barb that reduces into whatever smaller size. I'm pretty sure this will work I just gotta ask.

You need to pick and choose your battles, for $15 its not worth the time to screw around with it. We have already had the disscusion about what is a true ventrui and effecentcy. I messed around with making one and you just can't beat $15.

yeah, seeing how important it is. why would you bother.

but itll only cost you 50cents to try. so by all means, try.

All I used was a .5" pvc piece of 5" in lenght. Heated in boiling water and pressed in the middle with a Plier. Then dirilled a hole on the middle and inserted those green plastic connectors that come for connecting airhoses. Connected the airhose and it is working great for me.. Just my 2 cents

You actually need to pinch the middle of the T.
