Mangrove Experience Needed

Im trying to set up a mangrove type fuge for my 40 gallon. Anyone have any experience with mangroves? Any information would be appreciated. Any pictures of your setups? Thanks

Mangroves work really well, but grow fast. I had mine in refugium that was plumbed into the main tank. Leave a leaf or two, but clip ALL the rest. Also, this thing is a tree...it will get large, so expect to replace them when they get too big with the seedlings again. You can prune it a few times, but it gets thicker as it ages. Some great deals can be had on Ebay (I think the last time I got 10 stalks for $10, plus $8 shipping). There are more efficient nutrient exports that are less maintenance (though small trees sprouting form your fuge definitely is a conversation starter)...Oh and if you happen to have a seahorse tank, they seem to really like hanging on to them...
yeah my fuge became a seahorse tank after I found a pair of starving seahorses at Pet Club....

yes they are very fast growing tree. I have them for less than 5 month and they are twice as tall as when i got them in(i pay $9.99 and plus $10 shipping for 25 of them). They are very good of exporting nutrient from the tank but it need like a month for it to root down and start to works. I have cut down on water change from 2 times a month to every 3 weeks now. I have a very high load of fish and coral all to the max in the 75 gallons. one thing that i have try to keep it from over grow is used only 12 hours lighting. Hope this is help and if you want the pics please email me at cuongvp03@yahoo.com.

great at phosphate removal. The jury is still out on nitrate removal in my case. They need to be big and mature to see real benefits in most cases.
