Mangrove in refugium?

Other than looking really cool, what is the purpose of using a mangrove plant in your refugium? Does anyone use one in theirs? From what little I know, they are supposed to remove nitrates from the aquarium? Any info would be appreciated.

yea they serve as a macro algae, though i heard they don't really do a good job.

Unless the roots are very deep they really don't do anything. I also hear alot more cons then pros when it comes to using mangroves in a refugium. I would stick to cheato or a big skimmer.

I am ditching my refugium for a huge skimmer. It is an eye sore and I ran my system without one for 3 weeks and I liked it much better.

I have several, they're growing into my fuge light, I've had to trim them back a couple of times cause the leaves were getting burned on the light.

Personally, I like refugiums (refugia?) anyway, I like all the whacky critters growing in there. Mine has Flame Scallops, mangroves, various types of macroalgae, all kinds of mysis and pods...

You need dew every day with water to the leaves with fresh water,if you not do this ..............................it die !!!
