Mangrove question

I just picked up a couple mangroves and one of them doesn't look as great as the second.

Does this look normal? This one doesn't have any roots yet btw.


This is how the second looks like. Looks fine to me.

The first one is definitely dead. The second one doesn't look dead yet but you should probably get it into substrate.

Bummer. I'll have to take it back and get a healthy one.
Will the second one be ok if I place it in between rocks? It won't reach the substrate.
