mangroves and ammo lock??? please help

okay so i bought a few mangroves the other day they were on sale for a buck a piece and they are already helping to decrease my ammonia and nitrates/nitrites i always get them mixed which ones good wich ones bad??? any ways so should i not do ammo lock or is it okay
