Mangroves

I Have a mangrove..and was wondering if it need to be partially out of water..to get the roots sprouting??

I wouldn't have more than half of it in the water (only the bottom 1/3 would be best). You can try getting one of those thin bamboo props from a garden center and some of that green stretchy florist's tape. Gently tape the propogule to the stake so that only the bottom 1/3 of the mangrove is in the water. As roots grow, just move the mangrove up the stake a little so that just the bottom parts of the roots are in the water. Eventually, just let the roots grow down to the substrate and hold it in.
