Would a 3inch G. Tern survive in a 55gal with a 4inch majestic angel and a 4inch purple tang?

I would think so.

The bigger issue is that the 55 is too small for either the angel or the tang.

*shrugs* they eat well and swim around happily, what size do you think they should be in?

minimum of a 125 for those two fish, they will get bigger. that being said I think the mantis shrimp will be ok, but it might try to take out the fish, especially as it grows.

Both of these fish get quite large and aggressive -- the angel in particular gets to be 10-12" in captivity! I would say 120 for the tang, 200 for the angel.

Ah, I see what you are saying. I bought them when they were both about 2.5inches, maybe 3. I am planning on giving them to my dad when his 500gallon aquarium is set up. I bought them knowing they were only going to outgrow the tank.
