Maracyn-Two Saltwater, Dosing second time?

Long story short, I have two black ocellaris clowns that have been in my tank probably 4-5 months (England tank raised if I traced their history correct).

Both were a month in QT fine, and after a while in the tank the male (less than 1") got the standard parasite heavy breathing white poop issue. I got him in QT and hit him with Maracyn-Two Saltwater and Gel-Tek Ultra Cure (praziquantel, flubenol, metronidazole) and treated him successfully.

The female now has the same symptoms, and I put them both in QT this time. I hit them with the same setup. After the standard 3-5 day treatment, she's still alive (and he's still full of life as usual) but isn't eating still. I can still see some white stringy poop.

I don't have my directions anymore. It's been six days since the last treatment stopped. Does anyone have instructions or know if it's safe to put them through the treatment again since it didn't fix her 100% the first time? Any issues, downsides, or problems that could occur?

rokle, ill read my directions and get back to you in a second. you may want to try a better internal parasite med. youll need to order it though. did she display white poop in the reef?? because one symtom with these bacterial infections is white poop although it isent internal parasites.

check this out online, petsmart sells it if it catches your eye. Im using it right now.

'lifeguard' from instant ocean. treats ALL fungal bacterial parasite etc.

My wrasse in qt had laid on its side for 23 hours, breathing so heavy, then the next day barely breathing at all. after 1 tab of life gaurd and a few hours time, shes swimming AND eatting agian.

Ok im frilling, gimmi 5 minutes and ill type the maracyn directions for you. Im loving the lifeguard tho. even tho i donno whats really in it.

If you truely believe its internal parasites, you need the striat form of maraoxidol, sold thru fosters and smith, white bottle pink labal

frilling... grilling... burned the chicken :D

anyway. i had a thought. did you double the dose? (ten gallon tank, 2 tabs first day, 1 tab rest of treatment)? I think thats important.

Ok anyway, the box itself says

"Instructions: first day add 2 tablets per 20 gallons of water, second thru fifth day, add 1 tablet per 20 gallons of water. repeat this 5 day treatment only once if needed. Important: treat for 5 days even if visable signs dissapear. may be used concurrently with other mardel saltwater products.

Heres another thought. "Maracyn two treats gram negative bacterial infections. treats sick fish that will not eat"

Maracyn Broad spectrum antibiotic treatment agianst gram possative bacterial and fungal diseases in fish.

The panphlet inside covers all theyre products and under maracyn2 it says to read packageing for directions. so what i put above is all the directions.

It says after finishing treatment to do a 25% water change and run some carbon, so maybe do a 25% water change before starting the next 5 day dose or switching to lifeguard

Good luck. toss me a pm if i can help at all!!!

ps.. my nem has been walking for 4 days now!!! bugger, its killing everything and causeing sleepless nights!!! lol

Burned chicken... Guess that's what you get for helping me out. I owe you one ;)

They normally jump out of the water when I feed, and she was just hovering at the bottom of the main tank. I saw white poop at that time, and immediately associated it with what the male had gone through just a couple of months earlier.

I did the standard dose. I'll hit a few petsmarts and see if I can grab it local and give it a try.

Yeah, I've seen that thread about your BTA. No fun :( Well, if worst comes to worst, mine is getting to be one heck of a fattie, so I might have a backup for you if yours doesn't make it.

These guys have ignored my BTA since day one. Currently they're in a "fake" BTA in QT, and that's when they have a basket to hide in that they normally like :)

Ok if you dident double the dose Id say stick with the maracun 2 for another treatment, 5 days. But double the dose. 2 tabs first day 1 tab each day the rest of the time. I bet that'll do it. If not try the lifegaurd, but Id do that only if that point you have no way of identifying what the problem is, since you dont really need to be treating for ick and brook and everything else in them. Any swelled cheeks or fin rot? I remembered the name of that internal parasite med. Its called 'fish zole'

The nem.. You know whats funny is before the move she dident look so hot and was twisting off tenicles. Well now she looks great, just like her old self but she just cant get comfortable agian. Shes wedged between the wall and a flat rock now, still squeezeing up. She'll make it just fine but i may need to coxe her into a good spot.

I bet yours is big by now! mines at least a lil more than doubled :)

Good luck on the fish, Hopefully the next round of maracyn will do the trick. The marine biologist girl is the one that told me to double up so I always tell people the same, but I have no info to back it up.
