Marine Betta, anyone ad experience in owning this fish, and can you tell me what they're like.

Are they safe with small gobies?

No their not safe with little gobies. They'll eat your yellow watchman gobies!

I have one in my 90. Beautiful fish! You really can't trust them with smaller fish or shrimp. That being said I have a small neon goby in the same tank and I also keep blue bar gobies as well. Mine is eating anything I put in the tank these days including flake food! I offer cut up shrimp, silversides and a variety of seafood from the grocery stores seafood mix in the frozen section. It's my favorite fish and this picture you can see the neon goby trying to clean the betta!

i have one and they will eat ornamental shrimp. as long as the small goby cant fit in its mouth they will be ok. the beta is in the grouper family so their mouths are pretty big.

probably in my opinion one of the most under rated reef fishes..
they can be kinda shy...dont really like well lit aquariums...are naturally nocturnal...and like shrimp....but other than that great great fish....I have a big one in my 90 gallon reef....hes probably bout 6 inches now

I love this fish! At first, it is hard to get it to eat prepared foods. Once that is done, it is a blast to watch its behavior. I keep mine with a yellow watchman, and purple firefish. It hasn't had any problems because the betta is only 3 inches long. I also have a fire blood shrimp, which hasn't been bothered yet. Just be sure that the goby is not smaller than the betta's mouth.

Very cool fish! VERY hardy! I love watching them hunt prey! They do tend to hide though so don't expect to see it out in the open much. You may need to feed him at night or target feed him if you have it with aggressive eaters. I don't think I would advise putting it in with small Gobies and such. Can't guarantee the little fish would be safe
I would make sure any potential buy is eating prepared foods. Have seen some that don't take to it.
