Marine Bettas

Marine Betta, what do you think of them any personal experience?

Very peaceful. Pretty shy. Safe with small fish and inverts despite their larger size. Not an overly active swimmer. Extremely disease resistant.

VERY very shy. Always hiding until feeding time and then back in the rocks. That was my experience anyway. Too bad because it's an awesome looking fish.

Very pretty, but pretty boring - not an active swimmer at all. I traded mine back to a LFS after a few months.

Require long time to get used to aquarium life. After some years will be out and will be an open water fish... Have mine over 12 years and last 6 years spend a lot of time in open water. The most diseases resistant fish no way to kill him. I added small one (3 inches) last year and now it seems that I have a couple... But don't try this without supervision as I mine almost destroyed another one in few minutes 8 years ago ( a similar size one).

Mine now have 8 inches (small one have about 4 inches)

I bought a baby captive bred one from LA a year ago. Took him a couple of weeks for me to start seeing him, he has grown a lot in a year. Great fish, very unusual swimmer. Not shy but likes to hang in the overhangs, caves, etc. He does come out during the day to feed just like the other fish. Is just a ltttle more active after the MH light goes out. Not aggressive in the least.

Can't figure out why more of the captive bred ones aren't seem more often on LA or other shops.

I have kept them for years in 125g , 360g, 240g and 400g tanks. You can go months without seeing them. I have never tried more than one.

I have been survived after maor crashes that these fish appear months later and look fine. I did have more issues keeping smaller shirmp when I kept the bettas.

One of the first saltwater fish I ever bought close to 25 years ago.
Had it in an 80 tall with a Lionfish and a Snowflake Eel. I'd like to have another.

I had one for a few years. Absolutely STUNNING fish, but as everyone said, extremely shy and nocturnal.
