My LFS store sold me a yellow tang with ich. I told them if it does not make the quarantine, I am bringing it back. They told me no guarantees on their fish. Then they told me to just run my U.V. light and it would catch up. (Boom, they said it) I used to believe that. Just so happens the employee of a old store I used to shop at, told me that originally, now is at the new place.(well old place after the debockle). U.V. light is not going to keep up with it in the long run. Unfortunately my money back revolves around their directions. Guessing with my U.V., I will have the tang around a year or two instead of 10. It is my only fish and gotta admit, sucks to see it swimming with the spots. Once the spots go away, I am gonna do the QT. Then fish less for a month in the display. The stores cry about nitrates, salinity what are parameters. They sold ich with the fish, in my case. 4 weeks fishless and it is gone. Stress can decrease the fishes chances. The parasite would not be there if the place the fish came from di not have it in their systems. Places should say either treated or not treated. There is no in-between. You buy a dog and they say if it had its worm shots. Saltwater fish are just as pricey. The mark up on their livestock is enough to cover treatment. So sick of stores passing responsibility to consumers. They know the ich is in their systems and still sell the fish full price. They are the puppy mill of ich. Not the consumer. Then pass the responsibility to you without saying it. Sorry about the rant. Just in a debockle of money back doing what the store says here. UGH. lol Sterilizors do have other benefits though.
