maroon clown in jail

Hi guys,
i have a large maroon thats been in my sump for about a week and a half for bad behaviour. My tanks never been better and the fish are so much happier the bully has gone. Anyone had experience with changing their behaviour? Wondering if i should just take her back. Do you think i'd get store credit or they'd just take her as a gesture of good will?

thanks so much

Richie

I had one for a bit. Traded in on an ocellarius (sp?). Mine would attack me every time I put my hand in the tank.

Thanks. So you think if i put her back she'll go back to her old ways?
Hope i can get a part exchange or some credit.

I tried the quarantine method, rearranged rocks, everything and eventually had to take to the LFS. I was hoping that because my Maroon was tank bred it would be more peaceful, but that didn't matter.

Good luck,

Robka

i've had a maroon yellow striped pair for over a year. the female sometimes will make the other fish leave the one side of the tank, but never seen her actually bully another fish. and of course the male does nothing but hide

Sounds like you are one of the lucky ones. I wonder if having a mate helps to curb their aggression towards other tank mates? Out of curiosity, what other fish are sharing the tank with your Maroon pair?

Thanks,

Robka

I've had mixed experiences with them. I got one with my tank when I bought it and it was very large(almost 4") and told everybody who what boss including the big tangs, the 24" snowflake eel, and, oh yea ME! I traded it in to the LFS (got about $40 with the anemone too) so I could bring my first one back from a friends tank. I got my first one as a baby(I believe wild caught) and made sure to try to teach him early on to be nice. always fed him out of my hand and eventually got to be able to pet him with my finger while he ate. I could have literally picked him out of the tank with my hand at any time. I had him for 5 years almost until I got some type of parasite that killed off my whole tank minus one blenny:thumbdown... He was super nice to all other fish and very tame all the time until he passed away. Now I am torn on whether I should get another in my new tank when the time is right or not. Maroons are just so much cooler to me then any other clown, it's hard to decide....

You still out there? Just curious what other fish are housed with your Yellow Maroon pair?

My A ocellaris clown is just AS bad as a Maroon! She is just smaller, fortunately. Remember, clownfish are Damsels.

I've had my GSM for 7 years and she has always been a perfect lady. Never bullied any tank mate. She annoys the hell outta me at times with her tail fanning sand everywhere but she is a peach. I currently have her in my 90g. Tankmates are a Kole, green wrasse, flame angel & a CB. She had a mate approx 3 years ago but he died to a powerhead. She has been alone ever since.

maroons are meaaaaaan! my friend had a 12 inch green carpet anemone that "hitler" hosted. hitler took every crab or snail and stuffed it into the anemones mouth. after sometime, hitler would take any small fish and stuff it into the anemones mouth. one day, he brought back a damsel and floated the bag in his tank. hitler literally kept darting at the bag to try to get the damsel out. meaan fish.
