I just wanted to share my success story with the group. I still consider myself a newbie in this hobby. I currently have three tanks and owned another tank prior to these. I have about a total of two and a half years experience but have only been serious about it within the past year.
The first fish I put into my main display tank was a 3" maroon clown. She has grown quite a bit since I got her and I always wanted to pair her up. Everyone said I had lost my mind lol.... well at least that it would probably end badly and that I should reconsider. Most of the forums I read said pretty much the same thing, with a few success stories tucked in here and there.
Yesterday I decided to give it a try. I made an acclimation box from egg crate diffuser, rearranged my rock, and after a good acclimation, I placed the new small maroon in the acclimation box inside my tank.
----
5 minutes later, he has escaped through the holes in the acclimation box (I could have sworn he was too big to get through there).
Just as I noticed and started to freak out, I saw him do the heeby jeeby shake dance and after that all was golden - they nosed each other, then they started swimming beside each other and cuddling in the nem together. :fun4:
Maybe this is not a big deal and is more common that I thought, but I just wanted to share my story since mostly everyone (and various forums that I read) said it would almost certainly end bad. I don't want to mislead people, anyone who is considering trying to pair maroons - like I said, I am a newbie and you should probably take the advice of more experienced hobbyists, I'm probably just really lucky :lmao:
Here are a few pics of my new pair!
