Maroon Clowns

Just a quick question.... I want the dark maroon/purple with gold stripe clownfish. The person who ordered some for me says they are juvenile, so the gold stripe isn't gold yet. It only gets the gold color as they mature. Is this true. I guess I've only seen mature ones, not any juves.

GSM's do start out with white stripes that turn gold/yellow. The ones I raised had darker and lighter maroon bodies but the parents are deep maroon.

A good ball park is just under an inch to 2 inches for the color to really be seen. There are lots of posts about people paying for GSM and getting white, only to have them color up in 2-3 month.

there is alot of things that go into maturity of clowns (husbandry, feedings, tankmates, water conditions, as far a typical not really sure with maroons

The female will be growing for a few years probably, the male will stop growing much sooner, but more to being mature than size.

i bought mine as a maroon and after 3 months it turned gold. si for $14 i glt a good deal. i think it will get its gold stripe sooner than a year. mine turned gold in 3 months and i figure since it was a small one, it was barely 4 months or less before shipped so that 6 to 8 months when turning gold.
clowns become sexually mature around a year or so if i remember.
