Members of East Tennessee Reef Club

Did you know that as a member of East Tennessee Reef Club you and your immediate family members (son/daughter/step-son/step-daughter) are eligible to apply for the MASNA Scholarship?

• What is the MASNA Scholarship you ask? It is a $2500 scholarship for a full-time undergraduate who will be seeking a degree in a marine science field.
• How do I apply? Visit this page on the MASNA website and download the application: http://www.masna.org/AboutMASNA/MASNAScholarship/tabid/83/Default.aspx
• When is the deadline to apply? August 4, 2009 so don’t delay!
• When will the scholarship be awarded? September 26, 2009 during the banquet of MASNA's Marine Aquarium Conference of North America (MACNA) XXI in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Unfortunately, I don't think they're hiring many Marine Biologists in TN...

Maybe Matt would hire me...

I wonder if people in a microbiology department who are studying oceanography-type stuff can apply. For example, I studied the way that iron affected plankton (specifically bacteria, Cyanobacteria, and eukaryotic algae) in the ocean...the Peruvian upwelling region of the pacific ocean near Peru/Chile.

If my granddaughter, Rylee Anne, thinks see might want to be a marine biologist in 18 or so years, could you give her Papa the $$$$$? I would do my best to keep her interested.

She in 8 months old last week. I could ask her just right and I am sure she would grin, big time. Well, just checking!!!!
