Just to make sure, if my blues go out on my maxpect razor 160w. All i need to do is buy the Maxspect Razor 15000k LED Pad from coralvue and replace them right ? Will i have to replace all 3? All three pads the blues dont work.. also not sure if fans work..

Also the 3pads to replace are $180. Is this light worth fixing or should i buy a different light. My budget to light up the 57g it is on, would be like 280-300

Thanks for the help !

Huh. Don't know if the fans work?
Dead fans could kill LEDs.
Secondly can't guarantee it's not something else.. like drivers..

Recommend you just get new lights........

man it might be me but its always been a mission to post a picture on this site.. lol I LOVE RC and been on for awhilleeee but the picture thing always has drove me crazy

There we go. B setting doesnt work A setting works. Those are the pictures. If i can repair i actually think i should. But would like to actually know exactly what to buy and fix..

That can be replaced right? Do you know where i can buy one?

Also how do you know because its on every pad the same ones are out ?

Hmm normally I'd say you couldn't tell if it's a driver or an LED going "open" in a chain (if no circuitry is built in to compensate) but I "believe" they run a series/parallel arrangement for their light...soooooooooo yes probably driver.

You can check ind diodes if you want w/ a digital VOM.. Do a search on troubleshooting LEds.

Not sure you can replace ind. drivers since I believe that are all in on (or 2) boards..

wow ok oreo57, thanks for all that info and taking your time to send that. Seems like you know way more then i do about leds. I think i'm going to do what you said the first time and just buy new lights.. Any recommendations on what to do with these maxpact leds that only runs whites lol ? Supplement lighting maybe ?

It is either a bad pad or driver, I would assume a driver, but Maxspect used to (and may still) offer a repair option for $120. I too had the blue channel go out in one of mine after 4+ years, and will either replace the driver ($50), or contact them and see if they still offer the repair service. Either is preferable to purchasing a new light I would assume...

Well, not to waffle on my recommendation but it does depend on how "proficient" one is troubleshooting things..

Problem is it looks to be not "one whole" channel and the driver board may(does) have more than one driver per channel. Makes things difficult

Which I still had the "schematic" of that light (ie. series parallel arrangement of diodes)

Personally, the design as a whole is kind of goofy, in a creative way.

Secondly replacing ind. diodes (if an issue) is problematic..

You may (looks unlikely) solve it w/ a $50 driver board replacement (as posted) but you need more probing to determine that..
Here's my response from Maxpect. It sounds like the way to go, based on what she says about cost.

"if you would rather send it into us, we offer a repair service for $120 that includes all parts and labor needed to repair your fixture as well as return shipping. This is usually the best way to go cost-wise considering the driver and control boards are $50 each and the LED pads are $60 each. When we see the issue you're having, it is usually caused by a driver board that has failed and caused some of the chips in the LED pads to fail which means that you would need to replace the LED pads and the Driver board. If you have the 16000k pads, they have been discontinued and Maxspect has replaced them with 15000k pads which are not compatible with the 90 degree lenses that came with the 16000k pads so you would also need to replace those lenses with the 120 degree reflectors which are $14.99 each. It can get quite costly so I would recommend sending it into us for service and repair and that way you can skip the step of taking it apart on your own and taking photos if you'd like.

Let me know what works best for you and I will give you further instructions if you want to send it in."

Like I said.. kind of goofy...

Wow that sounds great who do I contact to send them in? Maxspect right? Is that a recent msg from maxspect. I hope they still offer that 120$ deal to fix them.
