Maxspect LED?

Hey Ray,

I have two of the G2-400-160w fixtures. I actually like the color of my DIY one better and my corals seemed to respond to it better. I think that different LED's have slightly different spectrums. My Red Planet looked GREAT under my DIY's but the red pigments have suffered under the G2's. My blue milli never colored up well under my DIY's but is getting more blue all the time under the G2's. ?????? I think that each coral has a certain small piece of the spectrum that helps them the most and if it's missing they suffer color loss. My red chalice hasn't rsponded poorly but all other reds have.

I cheaped out when I got my G2s and didn't spend the extra money for the Cree LEDs because it was a considerable amount. I may try to use the same type of LEDs that I purchased for my DIY's and put them in the G2s to see if I can get a blend that works for the reds and blues but that takes time and so does waiting for the results :)

This may be the reason that you see mixed reports about LED's across the board.......Or my water chemistry or temp or new skimmer or ???????? is what changed and caused the lightening of colors.

What a hobby!

Oh....as for the fixture itself, it seems to be built pretty solid. At the very least it is a good base to build from. I think with changing out some, not necessarily all, of the LEDs it might be perfect. but who knows?

Thanks.

So are you still using these or are you using the diy fixture?

I was actually looking at the 110 model. This would be for a tank of just acans for the most part.

How was the pricing on the group buy? How much did you save? The shipping on these things is ridiculous.

I think it ended up costing me $1020 for both delivered. It seemed like I saved a little but the longer wait is probably not worth the slight difference in money.
